Happy Age Seniors

Twenty-four Happy Age Seniors met at the church on Wed., Jan. 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM for our soup luncheon.  After Faye Merkt welcomed everyone, Diane Kane had our devotions entitled, “One Thing”.  The message was pray for God to lead you in a New Year’s renewal.  Look to Jesus as your coach.  Diane also had our blessing.  We had a brief business meeting.  We voted to increase our memorial gift to $30.00 to be given in memory of a deceased member.  A memorial gift was given in loving memory of Steve Dabbs.  Amie Goodman shared information about “A Matter of Balance” which is a program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels in older adults.  Classes will be held at Mt. Moriah for 8 weeks beginning Feb. 5 from 10 – 12 noon.  There was a sign-up sheet for those interested.  Memory Café was also mentioned.  The meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of each month at 10:30 AM in the building behind Gary’s BBQ.  Memory Café provides community and activities for both the caregiver and the person with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.  “Happy Birthday” was sung to Anne Sebastian.  A sympathy card was signed for Beverley Barringer (loss of her brother) and Carolyn Dabbs (loss of Steve).  A “Thinking of You” card was also signed for Gladys Weddington.  For lunch, we enjoyed delicious soups, barbecue sandwiches and wonderful desserts.  Our next meeting is Wed., Feb. 14, at 11:00 AM.  We will be having our Valentine luncheon (building out back).  Bring one (1) BINGO gift ($1.00 item).  Since lunch is being provided, we need a count.  Please let Faye know ASAP.
