Happy Age Seniors

MARCH 2019

Irish music and shamrocks set the atmosphere as we celebrated St. Patrick's Day at our Happy Age Senoirs' gathering. Twenty-six seniors met at the church Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, March 20th at 10 AM. Glenda Overcash welcomed everyone. She shared fun riddles and the history of Saint Patrick. During the morning, we enjoyed moving around in seven different stations as we engaged in fun St. Paddy's Day activities.  Afterwards, we got a laugh sharing our Leprechaun names? Special awards were given to the winners of the activities.

Special recognition and thanks were given to Glenda Overcash, our Activities Leader. Faye Merkt had a brief business meeting before devotions.

"Happy Birthday" was sung to those with March birthdays. Reminder to sing up for the annual beach trip as soon as possible scheduled for November 13-15, 2019. A memorial was given in the loving memory of Gladys Weddington.

Diane Kane had devotions and shared an inspirational reading with the message. "We are called to witness and evangelize". After the blessing, we had a delicious lunch of "Irish" potato soup and St. Patrick's cookies and cakes.

Happy Age Senoirs will meet at the church on Wednesday, April 10th at 9:30 AM for our trip to The Slot Car Track Raceway and Hobby Shop (owned by Shelley and Randy McAnulty). We plan to stop and eat lunch on our return home.

The Happy Age Senoirs met on Wednesday, February 13th at 11:00 AM in the Youth and Family Center. This was the 11th Annual Valentine Luncheon. Glenda Overcash welcomed everyone. Wayne Kane, Diane Kane, Sarah Higgins, Kathy Johnson and Mary Lambert were thanked for decorating.

Diane Kane shared devotions "Love is in the Air". The message was that GOd's love for us and the love that is shared with one another, will never pass away. Show some acts of kindness to those you love before and after Valentine's Day. Let love be in the air at all times!

After devotions and the blessing, lasagna, salad and garlic bread were enjoyed for lunch.

Faye Merkt led the meeting. Discussion was held on possibly extending the annual beach trip to three nights instead of two. After voting, it was decided that the group will continue to stay two nights, Wednesday and Thursday and return on Friday.

Happy Birthday was sang to Pat Tallent and Carolyn Daugherty. Cards sent to Dot Freeze, Gladys Weddington, Claudine Barnhardt who celebrated February birthdays.

Larry and Luanne Sides were crowned King and Queen. Afterward, games such as COURT (version of Bingo) was placed. Everyone won at least one game and a cool prize. The fellowship was adjourned after singing "Blest Be the Tie".

Next meeting Wednesday, March 13th at 10:00 AM for St. Patrick's Day Party. Seniors welcome for fun games and activities followed by lunch of Irish Potato Soup.
